A university education helps an individual to learn skills and gain experience not only inside the classroom, but the process also continues beyond the classroom. It is a lifetime experience and opportunity and that is why choosing a university is a very crucial task for a student, whether it is within the home-country or outside. Those who wants to go abroad for education they generally consider a few key facts – quality of education, tuition fees and cost of living, work permit and so on. Canada is such a country which has the capability to fulfil almost all the requirements of a student desiring to study abroad.

Canada is one of the top international student destinations in the world. Students from all across the globe come to Canada for a quality education with affordable tuition fees.  A degree from any Canadian university is recognised throughout the world. Students will get to see a diverse culture and enjoy natural scenic beauty in the countryside. Here are some of the reasons for why a student should choose Canada for higher education-

A Quality Education

One of the main reasons students opt for Canada is that there are many world top-ranked universities throughout the country. These universities provide students with a wide range of courses to choose from. The education system of Canada is of high standard and be compared to those of US and UK. A Canadian University is recognised world-wide and holds a lot of importance.

Most of the university courses are structured focusing on various research works. Students get the opportunity to engage themselves in different experiments and project works which help themselves to gain experiences and learn new skills or to improve their existing ones. Besides studies, students also get the chance to participate in a vast range of extra-curricular activities.

Affordability and Safety

One of the main barriers for a student to study abroad is the cost of tuition fees and living expenditures. Canada is one of the most affordable countries in the world where one can get a world-class degree with an average tuition fees ranging from CA$ 20,000 – CA$ 25,000 (BDT 13,00,000 – BDT 16,00,000) per year. Some of the courses, like Medicine, Nursing and MBA cost more than other courses.

Living in Canada is also less expensive than any other top international student destinations. Students can live both on-campus and off-campus housings with an expenditure of CA$ 600 – CA$ 1200 (BDT 40,000 – BDT 80,000) per month, depending on the university and the location. Food and transportation are also available in a reasonable price. A high standard of life is guaranteed here.

Students will also get a safe and friendly environment while staying in Canada. There is less political discrepancies compared to other parts of the world and crime rate is also low.

Work while you Study

Majority of the international students want to work while studying. Canada provides a great opportunity for them by allowing students to do part-time jobs both on-campus and off-campus. Students are allowed to work on a student-visa 20 hrs/week and full-time during the vacations. They can earn an average of CA$ 14/hrs (BDT 1,000) with an average monthly salary of CA$ 1200 (BDT 80,000). This will help them to gain work experience and make up their tuition and living costs.

Career Opportunities

Canadian government allows international students to work full time after they have completed their graduation. Students can get a work-permit of up to 3 years following their graduation. This is a huge opportunity for those who seek for permanent residency.

Permanent Residency

It is easier to get a permanent residency in Canada. Canadian immigration allows students to stay for up to 3 years after graduation, which is more than enough to get a job. A Canadian degree and one year of work experience is required to apply for a permanent residency visa. Once a job is secured, students can apply for a permanent residency visa if other minimum qualifications are met.

Statistics

Every year a number of students from Bangladesh go to Canada for completing their graduation and many of them stay back after acquiring a permanent residency visa. According to Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) data, in 2016-17 Bangladesh student enrolment in Canadian institutions grew to +41%. In 2018, the rate of enrolment rose to +53%.
